When you think about dental implants, what comes to mind? For many people, it’s probably a bright smile that they can be proud of. And while dental implants may not be the first choice for everyone when it comes to teeth restoration, they may be the best option for you if you’re looking for long-lasting results. Here are some of the benefits and risks of dental implant surgery: Benefits of Dental Implants Surgery: Dental implants are often considered one of the most effective ways to restore teeth. They offer a natural look, feel and function that cannot be achieved with other methods. Not to mention, dental implants are often more affordable than other restoration options. Risks of Dental Implants Surgery: There are a few risks associated with dental implant surgery that should be considered before opting for the procedure. Among these are: infection, failure of the implant and complications during healing. In most cases, though, these risks can be avoided by following proper oral care instructions and consulting with an experienced dentist.

The Various Types of Dental Implants

Dental implants are a type of artificial replacement tooth that can be used to replace missing teeth, provide support for an unstable tooth or to correct an alignment problem. Dental implants are different from bridges, which are a type of partial denture and are usually made of metal and plastic. Dental implants are made from a variety of materials, including titanium, aluminum and porcelain. There are three types of dental implant: osseointegrated (integrated into the bone),fixed (held in place with a screw) and free (not held in place). Osseointegrated dental implants have the longest lifespan and are the most common type. Fixed Dental implants surgery  have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years, while free dental implants last for only 3 to 5 years. Dental implants can be used to replace teeth that are missing, damaged or diseased. They can also be used to fix teeth that are out of alignment or too weak to hold their own weight. The benefits of using dental implants include: They’re more stable than bridges – Unlike bridges, which can shift over time, dental implants stay in place because they’re integrated into the bone. They’re more secure – Dental implants don’t rely on tooth structure or gum tissue like bridges do. This means they’re less likely to fail due to decay or erosion.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

There are many benefits to dental implants over traditional dental treatments such as tooth extraction and replacement. Here are just a few: Dental implants are more stable and last longer than traditional dental treatments. Implants provide a more natural look and feel, as well as improved chewing and speaking abilities. Implants are easier to clean than traditional teeth, making them ideal for people with sensitive mouths. However, there are also some risks associated with dental implants: Implant failure can lead to tooth loss or instability. In most cases, this can be remedied by replacing the implant.  Surgery may cause soreness, swelling, and pain in the area around the implant for a period of time following surgery.
